I dont think pray should be allowed in school. Why can't people pray before school? Praying in school could take kids focus off of math,science, social studies and english which is what they are supposed to be studying in school. Also kids might see people have different religions and start focusing on that and treat there friends different because they have a different religion. And the kids would only be playing with kids of there same religion and be ignorant about different religions. Prayer in school is just asking for trouble. Reply wut u think!

Ok some peeps r very religios u c . Sometimes when someone prays it makes them feel stronger. So really if u have been brought up rite than u shouldnt discluded cause of religion. That would b plain wrong. Some kids choose 2 pray in school & i think that that is fine as long as it is 2 themselves & not outloud. 2 each his own opioin though.

Well I am very religious too. I practice Judiasim every day. I pray but I do it silently and do make such a big deal about it. And if they want to pray to themselves why can't they do it outside the classroom? And just beacuse someone wasn't brought up religiously doesn't mean they weren't brought up right. I know tons of straight "A" nice, kind people who never been to a church or anything religious.

NO! IN EVERYWAY! Some people practice some religions that epople never heard of, if would take 4 hours to pray to each one! and others would get offended and the school systems would get n "trouble"(oh no! lol) you Canbe very strong in your religion . I am! but please if you are pray to your self! it is rude and offeding if you say like "thank god i'm a aml and females suck" or you say something of that nature!

I'm kind of torn between the two sides of the discussion. I personally don't think prayer should be a subject in school or something like that, but I do think that some time should be set aside in the morning/middle of the day or whatever so kids who have to (by religion) or want to can pray. Religion is a sensative topic, and I think that everyone should be given the choice whether they want to pray or not or something like that. The kids who don't want to can just like...hang out or something. Maybe everyone would be satisfied with an arrangement like that...what do you think?

i think you should be able to pray in school if you do it silently. this way people dont offend other peoples religions.

this is a tough subject for both sides of the viewpoint. being pagan, i always feel slightly weird and out of place when the subject of praying comes up. i think that for the most part, religious rituals, such as praying, should be kept out of public school entirely. i agree with the person who said that school is for the main subjects like english, math, science, the arts, etc...
the arrangement of a special time for anyone who wants to pray can, and whoever doesn't can just hang out - think of this. all of those who just decide to "hang out" are going to automatically be looked at funny. like, "why isn't he/she/they praying?" i know a lot of christians (as an example) who look down on people who don't believe in God. there is already a gap between that sort and other, more open-minded people, it doesn't need to be made any wider. i know a lot of people have spent their entire lives trying to close that gap. it shouldn't be for nothing.

I think prayer should be aloud in school. I am a Christian, and I need to pray. When I pray at school, it is usually silent. But, sometimes I'll say "Help me God" or something like that out loud. There is NOTHING wrong with that. More people need to pray...schools need more of Jesus. It's too bad that so many people dont know God, or believe in him. They dont know how much God loves them. He is begging them to love him, to listen to him, to let him into their lives. He hurts when they hurt, he cries when they cry, he smiles when they smile...it's amazing. Anyways, prayer should be aloud in schools.... it should be aloud anywhere.

In public school it should not be allowed because someone might find it offensive or disruptive. IF it is allowed in public school, then there should be no qualms about 'Hail Satan' shirts. It's the same thing, let's not be idiots.

However if Christians and other religious types want to fund a school and have prayer in it let them go right ahead. However let's not be giving them any tax breaks for it. Religious groups ought to be taxed just like any other club...you got more than twenty members and you pay.

you should be able to do it becuz a amendment is freedom of religion so no one should tell you what to do or when you can pray!

If we can*t do homework in church then we shouldn*t be able to pray at school, and it pisses people like me off to see people doing it. At my school every day the christians go pray around the flag pole... idiots.

Actually, right before a basketball game, or boxing match, or any kind of sport that i'm in, i pray, and so do the people around me. It's all agreed- mutually- that we are praying, and if n e 1 doesnt like it, they should speak up. just the way it's been, and probably always will be. It's making me very pissed off that people keep saying they don't believe in God. well i really think that prayer should be allowed but not as in a whole period for it. if the school wants a club about a certain religion let them have it. if there is a muslim student in the school, let them pray. if you want to say your prayers out loud so that the whole damn school can hear you, you should be allowed. even if your realigion does make people change the way they think about you...should you care. i don't hink so. i think that people should be samrt enough not too pray to like satan out loud buyt hey is they do let them do it jsut not in the classroom.

i think that everyone goes about praying in there own special way and they dont need a prayer time to do it. people pray silently some times during each period of the day and no boddy knows aboutit i don t think that they should make us pray in sschool but they should not forbid it eather

Yes,its one of our rights to practice our own religion. I don't care what other people beleave, to me their just doing what they beleve.I still have respect 4 them im just being honest. I think its wrong for us not to be able to praise our God(s) in school. Or practice our religion in school. No where in our Constitution does it say that we're not allowed to practice our faith in public. If people don't like that they should get a life and get a smaller ego. I wouldn't mindd if their were Jewish ar Islamic decorations around town as long as their were christmas lights and trees. I heard that they are trying to make it illegal to decorate your house on christmas!!!That's wrong,and our country was based around religion expecially Christian and if they take away our freedom to express ourselves why don't they take awawy my faith! Just for the record,I think prayer should be allowed. But you dont have to pray aloud. And you shouldnt worry about getting hurt. I believe in God, and if someone hurts a follower of God, they have something coming.

if people find that prayer is offensive in school then they don't have to listen to them they can just walk away i mean there are a lot of things that people find offensive and we can't stop everyone from doing those things.
plus what if someone finds school offensive are people going to allow them to quit school or change it for them? i don't think so so in my opinon prayer should be allowed in school and if u don't like it just walk away....
